Inductive Bible Study Overview
This is a basic introduction to Inductive Bible Study. It describes a simple method -- a clear-cut toolset -- that can be used to study scripture both individually and in groups. We begin with a few assumptions about the scriptures:
The Bible is good.
We believe the Bible is God's Word. We believe that it has wisdom and authority for our lives today.
Yes, we believe that God used several authors over several centuries to put His Word on paper. His intent
was practical instruction and life-giving encouragement for all of us.
You can know it.
God produced the Bible for us to read, study and know. It is not a riddle, a trick, or a joke.
It is intended to be read, studied, and understood so that it can be applied to our lives. We believe that
most of the chapters in the Bible can be clearly understood with reasonable amounts of work.
The following pages explain the three basic steps of Inductive Study: Observation; Interpretation; Application. Don't be fooled by the simplicity. While you can learn it in a very short time, it is a skill-set that takes a lifetime to perfect.
