Application: What does this mean to me?
We have finally reached the third step. We have done the work, now it is fair to ask the question, "What does this mean for me today?"
How does this passage apply to me? How does it (or should it) change my thoughts, actions, or attitudes today, this week, and forever?
It begins with a General Application. But we need to make sure we don't keep it general. While the main theme of a passage is quite constant, it may impact your life much differently than the person sitting next to you. That is why the diagram flairs out in the Application stage; it may be different for Mary and different for Bill. After all our work, we need to stick the landing and ask how this will change our faith, our thoughts, our actions today.
As we unfold the method, we will discuss more tools to help in Application. For now, rememeber that this step changes us, and it must be built on the previous two steps.
